Olbermann speaks out on Prop. 8

Incredibly powerful Special Comment from Keith Olbermann on Monday night. Lots of people, not just Keith, were in tears over it.

More discussion in my diary on DailyKos. There were also some useful ideas in the comments on what we as Bruin Democrats could do to help combat the anti-gay bigots in California.

Keith Olbermann is just crying because now that Bush is leaving office, his show lacks a purpose and his ratings will tank.

Btw, some polygamists love each other a lot, should they be allowed to marry to?

The entire purpose of marriage is to sign a legal contract with someone. That contract serves many purposes that would be undermined if you had more than one spouse. Which wife decides when to pull the plug? With which husband should you file your taxes? The institution ceases to serve a purpose.

No, the purpose of marriage is to sign a legal contract between opposite-sex couples that want to build a family.

If you open up the floodgates and let the homoseuals in, polygamy is next.

Your definition of marriage doesn't even cover all straight couples. Should we deny the rights of older couples? Infertile couples? The logic goes both ways. Marriage is a contract. It only makes legal sense when it is between two people. That is where the line should be drawn.
